Hurry Curry | Our Story
From our family kitchen to DC streets
Hurry Curry is a Washington, DC food truck rooted in Bangladeshi family cooking — recipes handed down through generations, spices measured by memory.
Recipes measured by memory
Hurry Curry began around a kitchen table — a family conversation about the dishes they loved most. Those slow-simmered, carefully spiced recipes became the foundation for everything on the menu.
Shampa and Suman Barua
Shampa, head chef and co-founder, learned traditional cooking from family elders before a decade-long career as a banking VP. Suman left eight years in banking to bring the slow-cooked curries he grew up with to the community.
The rituals behind the flavor
Every dish starts with whole spices tempered in oil, a slow-simmered base, and layers of heat built with care. Fresh ingredients sourced daily — every plate made to order.
A neighborhood kitchen on wheels
Weekend pop-ups grew into a full-time truck because the community kept showing up — drawn by honest, soulful Bangladeshi cooking. Hurry Curry still shows up for local events, bringing people together over food that tells a real family story.
